hey guys, my cluster is all apart except that I cant get to my speedo cable to oil it up. Everything is taken apart, except that I cannot pull out my cluster far enough to get to the cable. Do I have to disconnect all the wires? A guy I know said that his just pulled out, and he didnt have to disconnect any wires. Thanks for any help, as my dash is in pieces right now.

I usually use a long flat bladed screwdriver to push in the locking tab as I pull out on the cluster. It works better than trying to fit my hand back there. If that doesn't work disconnect it from the transmission and then you can pull it out enough to gain clearance but that usually is only necessary if there is a problem elsewhere.

As a last resort, really last resort, you can jack up the car, disconnect the cable from the trans, and slack the cable to give you more room. You could also take off all the trim under the steering wheel so you can fit your hand behind the cluster from below....actually, if you look from the engine bay, you can see the speedo cable going into the fire wall. You should be able to push the speedo cable in to give yourself more slack. GL

Just keep at it. The shaft in the cable needs to line up with the speedo gear in the cluster, so you have to wiggle it a bit.

i just done this myslef a few months ago, you just have to be patient. the cable will clip back into place but you have to wiggle it enough so the teeth line up.........be patient it will fit back in

I got impatient and just put my dash back together, so no speedo for me. I am going to just replace the whole cable in a couple weeks I think.
