Hey guys,

My throw out bearing went out and I'm in the middle of replacing it, as well as my clutch of course. I'm currently stuck and cannot pry my tranny from my engine. I have remove the five bolts that go to the engine (3 driver side, 2 pass side) and the starter (3 bolts). Seems no matter what i do i cant get it to slide towards the back of the car...

Any help is appreciated :nice:

Check aligment dowels, use penetrating oil

The alignment dowels at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock can gall making separation difficult. Spray with penetrating oil and wait.

There are two bolts on top that are hard to get to. I have had good luck using a 13mm Flex socket and long extensions.

Remember to support the weight of the engine and the transmission. Don't let the weight rest on the transmission input shaft. It will bind making separation more difficult and possible to damage the transmission/clutch.

Be careful prying too hard on the transmission case. The aluminum is soft/brittle and it can break. Best to work on the whole transmission by hand if possible.

One trick is to leave a couple of bolts in only a few threads. Rock transmission side to side by hand (or foot). If any openings appear, insert something to wedge/hold it open (wood is best). Rock the transmission side to side until an opening appears on the other side. Wedge it open. Repeat until separated to the limits of the last two bolts. The idea is to not attempt too much at a time. You should be able to remove the last bolts and separate by hand.
