Hi everyone! i need a capacitor for my system, but i dont know much about them, like farads and whatnot..but i have a 700w amp w/ 2 12" mtx thunder 6000 subs...can ya help me out? thanks

A capacitor stores power and delivers it to your amp when It needs it. It will stop your headlights and instrument panel from dimming when the bass hits and your subs won't start to fade after extended play. They are connected in series and a 1 farad is supposed to be good for systems up to 1000watts RMS and .5 farad for up to 500watts rms.

I have one It works well "lightning" I think a few years old but does the job, I used it a little. Its at a friends house so I can't talk about it would sell cheap.

You need a 1 or 1.5 farad Cap if you are going to get one. I'm running one 1 farad and one 1.5 farad for my amps and they work great for the power 500RMS and 825RMS respectively.

Dirty little industry secret for you all:

There are only 2 or 3 manufacturers of these things worldwide and they sell them to all of the different companies (Rocford, Monster, Lightning, Stinger, etc.) so what you are really paying for is the name or design on the outside...all of the capacitors work exactly the same and are built to exactly the same specs.

If you aren't going to show them off then I suggest that you just get the cheapest one you can find.

lol, yea i know, i found one for $38! i thought it was a good deal, the label looks like it was made by rockford..but it was another name
