My car has been acting weird lately. It was cutting out in the middle of driving and had difficulty starting. Finally, yesterday it just quit. It started first try surprisingly and was idling while I was talking to my father in the garage. Then it just died and would not start. It turns over like it wants to start it just won't. My dad thinks it's a bad fuel pump. I've also heard it could be the distributor. Is there any way I can pinpoint the problem without replacing everything. I'm leaving for college tomorrow which suck s so it's just going to sit there for a while.

My timing is set at 10 degrees for nitrous and I'm only spraying the 75 shot and have had no detonation.

I'd say pull the codes and see what's up. It could be the fuel pump, but it's more likely the fuel filter. Have you ran it low on gas lately? If so, the pump will suck up the debris at the bottom of the tank and it will clog the filter. It also could be the dizzy, but I don't know as much about the ignition system as I'd like. Pull the codes and see if it tells you anything, it could even be a sensor.

those are symptoms of a bad stator in the distributor. mine would do the same when i was driving, it would just cut and i would have to wait a while to get it to start back up.

WHen it dies, check for spark. if not spark, check for injector pulsing with a noid light. If you only have no spark, the TFI or coil are possible. If you dont have spark or injector pulsing, the PIP is likely.

Do as Chris said and pull codes for sure. That can steer you into the right direction.

Good luck.
Good luck.
