So last night I removed my CAI and reinstalled the factory intake. I took it out for a test drive and 5 min later the lights dimmed and the engine wouldn't rev (almost like the MAF was disconnected). I was able to limp it home, where I checked all of the connections to the MAF, vacuum hoses, etc... My car then immediately restarted and I thought the problem was solved. Now this morning on my way to work it runs fine for about 19 of the 20 miles to work and the same thing happened. The lights dimmed and there was a power loss where the engine wouldn't rev. I again checked all of the connections, and it looks like everything is where it should be.

It seems to me like it would be a problem with the alternator, but it just happened to start doing this when I reinstalled the factory intake. Do you think my problems are related to something I did when reinstalling the intake tube?

Thanks!

I went back to stock because the MAC CAI was making squeaking noises over bumps and it was driving me crazy. I also did not realize when I purchased the CAI 4 years ago that they do nothing for performance. The PCM was not retuned and the OEM MAF has always been on the car.

I just jumped my car and the voltage climbed and stayed idle for a couple of min, then after revving to about 3500 the voltage began a steady decline. I shut it down before it went too low so that I can start it later. I am thinking it's the alternator.

Everything is reconnected. The other thing that is weird, when it started acting up the RPM and the speedometer dropped to zero even while I was cruising along at 60 MPH... The engine was barely running (stumbling along) and would not allow much more than a little light throttle before bogging out. If the MAF connection is faulty, does that cause the RPM and the Speedometer to drop to zero?
