Car Dieing

When I started my car today and put it in drive i gave it some gas and it didnt respond right away, so i let off the gas and then tried again and did the same thing but this time the car shut off, So i restarted it and put it in drive and it shut off right again, So i restarted the car and it was fine.

Wondering if anyone has had this problem before (its a 1986 Mustang LX V6)
And if so do you know how to fix it? Thank you

K few questions. did it jerk when it shut off? How many miles are on the transmission? Have you serviced the transmission?

No it didnt jerk.
Actully the transmission was rebuilt in 2004 at around 96,000 miles (so around 4000miles on the tranny)
