My 68 Stang has a problem starting. Yesterday it wouldn't start ( just kept cranking) until i put some starting fluid in the carb (750 holley vac sec). I warmed it up for 5 minutes, then when i put it in reverse(C4) it completely died. I tried to start it up, but all it did was kept cranking. Any ideas?

mine was doing something similar. it wasnt getting fuel. i ended up changing the fuel line, new fuel hoses and fidiling with the carb. NO luck!

in the end, it was a loose wire on the coil. you could see some spark coming from underneath the nut lol.

just a theory, on the c6's we have here at work they have a push in style trans filter. We had a problem on one of them that was similiar to yours, and it turned out that the filter was loose and it was builing line pressure until it was put in gear. Where it would lose pressure and suck air causing the truck to die. It stumped us for several days.. We finally ordered new shift solenoids and discovered the filter the way it was. Just a thought for you to try. I am not exactly sure what kind of filter the c4 has but if it is similiar to the c6 you could give it a shot.
