So we recently rebuilt the motor in my 95. At first we were having timing issues and thought we fixed it. It idles alright, but when we went to test drive it, it fell on its face and wouldn’t supply power and back fires. We think the dizzy isn’t timed right but it’s running and no matter where we turn it it’s falls on it’s face at WOT.

Did you use a timing light and verify the timing is set correctly with the spout connector removed?

Double check your plug wires/firing order. #5 and #6 are easy to cross up.

No we did not use a timing light. Lined it up with compression stroke and harmonic balancer. And could be wrong firing order. But I don’t know. Been giving me a rough time.

Timing lights are a Cheap,Necessary tool-and would be a good addition to your tool box

Everyone has good input. Also, what did you gap the plugs too. Usually when a car runs fine and falls on it's face at a certain RPM, it's because the plug gap is too large.
