hey all -

my car got keyed this weekend , I was wondering what the best way to touch this up/polish it out is? I confess to know basically nothing about body work. Its not down to the medal but it is down to the base coat. (looks white) Can someone give me an idiots guide to polishing out scratches and touching up paint? Also, recommend some quality polishing compounds/products?

That sux dude sorry to hear about that. Some people have 0% respect for other peoples property. If you take it to a local detail shop they maybe able to wet sand and buff it out. It def needs to have a buffer run over it at the minimum to remove those.

Same thing happened to me a couple years back. Insurance fixed it, partly, but it threw me into a makeover cycle for the car.

You won't be able to get them out if you can catch the scratch with your fingernail. When I was younger, the kids at high school keyed my 5.0 just out of spite. It was the fastest car at the school and all...anyways, back to the point... you will have to get the car sprayed my friend, sorry. You can try to touch it up but it will look like crap. good luck

Mine got keyed couple years back, from the mirror to the headlight...it was White as you state...150.00 for a body shop to repaint the fender...It came out mint....

People suck sometimes...never will understand why someone would get off doing that????

damn, i had both of my 5.0s keyed. i knew who it was both times. same kids. 1st time i made them pay 400 bucks. then when i got my new car, they were leaning on it and talking smack so i layed a couple of them on the ground. after they keyed my new car, i had to talk to a best friend of mine. coincidently he was walking with a hatchet and tripped. he accidently smashed both side view mirrors off, crushed a taillight, and cut a hole in the fender. man, what a clutz

honestly, I would let it happen again if I could catch whoever did it. It happened outside my fraternity in Worcester. Our house is located next to a church that was having a wedding reception that same night, so we think it was one of them cause they were all cocked and wandering around outside. It just sucks cause I don't have the money for a paint job and my insurance deductable is 500 bones, they'll just be like go get maaco for 399. I'm all set with the ambassador (how many fish eyes can we put on one car employee challenge) paint service.

No offense but if you fight with them after they make fun of your car it is complete hypocrosy. Most people make fun of honda's/ricers. What would you do if one of them layed you to the ground? If people want to race my car I just let them race me. Let them run there mouths, I don't fight/talk back to stay out of trouble.
