what happened to #9 and i dont think that you need #10 either...are you having all that installed by another or are you attempting to install all of it yourself?? i think if your having someone else do it , they should find your problem for you...if not blame them for the pull so they have to go thru it and fix the problem
i forgot #9, becasue face it i can't count that high. and me and big bro are going to do the work in the drive way when i can afford to buy all these parts. then i will put it on the car dolly and tow it to The Front End Shop.
Ok first try this, easy way of narrowing things down. Get the front end up on jack stands and of course pull up the e-brake. Then have someone hold the steering wheel solid straight or lock the steering wheel. Then push each front wheel back and forth. It should not move if the steering wheel doesnt. If it does check if the play is in the outer tie rod or in the inner tie rod to the rack. Basically if the tie rod is moving in and out of the rack while the other wheel is solid then its the inner. then take a pry bar and see if you can push the wheel up and down and look at the steering knuckle to check for play in your balljoints. You should have no play. I have a pretty good knowledge in steering and suspension. Going for my ASE in steering and suspension soon also, should ace it with no problem. But as many others have mentioned before you could also have play in the rag joints in you steering shaft. But my experience with my last 2 mustangs has been the inner tie rods, outer tie rods, and ball joints. Pretty simple fix though.
so by doing tie rods, bump steer kit, and inner tie rods, along with an alighnment should clear it all up.
becasue at the moment that all is afforad able. if it don't fix the problem, it would of been stuff that i should of done with all the other stuff that i was going to do. So its not a total loss. except for the alignment, because i would need to do that with cc plates again. am i correct in asuming this. If this is a little silly, i'm sorry becasue i am coming home from a bar that my best friend owns, where they had a BEER Pong tournament tonight(get your balls wet at Vinci's beer pong tournament...my slogan that went on all the t-shirts) that i took second in. Why is that the ones who last the longest are always the most drunk.
find and fix any slack then find someone whos smart enough to get you a little more caster set in......shoot for a little more pos caster on the right to help deal with road crown....good luck!
when ever i drive on the parkway or the turnpike or any other highway for that matter, my car is very unpredictable. It steers it self all over the rd. it probly looks like i am drunk driving to other cars. its bad.
People have told me a number of reason like, your tires are wide and have trouble staying in the grooves, or my front suspension needs an overhaul because its has so much play in it.
whats the problem here, and whats a solution to fix it.
After reading all the replies I'm wiling to guess that what you are experiencing is both tire and road surface related. Unidirectional performance tires have a tendency to respond to the wear in the road surface. I can almost guarranty that if you were to drive on a new section of asphalt the problem would vanish. I will also go out on a limb and suggest that there are locations where this pulling is more noticeable than other locations. Try this next time you are out on the Parkway/Turnpike. Stay out of the travelled portion by placing the left wheel on the lane divider (traffic permitting of course). I'll wager that the car will steer as you would normally expect (straight and true).
Is the car only doing this on mostly rutted roads, or fairly nice even highway? I have the same problem on rutted roads and it is a workout to keep the car between the lines. It did this on my stock 255/45 tires and on my new 275/45 nitto drag radials. When I got the tires put on the mechanic said I have a flat spot on my one rim like it took some weight. I know I didn't hit a pot hole or have a flat while I've had the car, but maybe the previous owner or a negligent shop caused the problem. Maybe you have a slight bend in one of your wheels like I do? If I look closely I can spot the wheel he was talking about and I never noticed it before. Try to see if you have the slightest bend in a one of your rims. It is tough to see. Just a suggestion
