The last time I drove my car, it ran beautifully. I stopped by the store cut it off and left my electric fan running. When I came back (no more than five min later) car wouldnt start. Got a jump off and for the next five min the theft light started flashing a sequence at me... something like 36 or something like that. Any way that was like a month ago an dnow every time I try to start my car it act like the battery is completely dead. I mean it cuts off all of the lights everywhere on the car and wont even turn the starter over. Someone please help me with this I am at witts end after putting a brand new battey on the car and having the same results. Do I have to get the car reprogrammed or am I missing something else?

Thanks,
Nate

Oh and it a '98 with no mods except straight pipes.

well mine did this to. well i changed my batery and it was good after that. for some reason it just went out. i had just drivin like 5 min to get there and cut it off went to start back up and nothing. btw mine is a 2000. and we knew it was the batery cause we took my friends batery to start my car then put my batt back in and it died after a min.

I think I had this failure in the past... first, voltage gauge started to go down, then all instruments cluster started going crazy... THEFT light, ABS light,... all lights started flashing, going on... off... crazy... then the car died...

After a while I got it jump started, everything fine until engine up to normal temperature again... that stated doing all this...

I removed the alternator and opened it. One of the copper wires on the windings was too close to the alternator front frame, heat made metal to expand and rub the wire to the frame until the insulation coating on the wire disspeared and shortcircuited. I got this specific wire bent it a little back in... Also did this to all the alternator windings... Everything is OK until now... that happened to me like 3 years ago...

Try this... its a weird failure but it is on the alternator for sure...
