Well the past few days on my way to school, I noticed my car was getting hot. My aftermarket gauge was temporarily dissconnected, its now working. And I didnt trust my stock gauge after all the trouble Ive had with it, but it is getting a little hot. It will be at 210* (normal) and after a while, mainly when I get on it to pass someone it will slowly climb up to 230-235*. A few things you should know first. I drove with the A/C off windows down. It gets hotter w/ the A/C on. And this was purely on the interstate, but it also does pretty much the same thing in the city.

Now heres a list of things I think it could be.
Air dam. isnt that the piece that lookis kinda like a small MACH1 chin spoiler but further back? My car had one when i got it but now it has mysteriously dissapeared.

Fan
How do I check the fan to make sure the hight speed is coming on?

U/D Pulleys
They never cause this before but maybe they are now?

Eric, my name isnt anyone, but I'll answer anyhow. :D

I agree - grab a new air deflector. It probably married a curb and you never knew it. I paid 12 bucks at the dealer. LRS sells them for about 15 if that's easier.

As you know, high speed doesnt come on till ~228*F or supposedly with Max AC. A couple ways to check it:

At the CCRM, if pin 14 shows 12 volts, low is on. If Pin 17 is grounded, high is on. The high speed fan terminal is the bottom one (as seen from the bird's eye view lookin down at the radiator from in front of the car). Be real careful if you check the wiring at the fan since there are lots of moving parts around there.

Has it been hotter than normal lately? Any work done on the car recently? Reasons it might be running hotter than it did before?

Good luck bud.

The temperature has actually cooled down about 15* to about 90*. (Man thats hot but it feel scool)

And the latest thing Ive done is the CAI and the TOB wich was done a week ago, but I cant see the tranny making it get hot.

If we assume that your passing folks (when it heats up) is at decent speed (above 45 mph after you pass them - ruling out the need for the fan), then I'd double check the coolant level (I'm sure you have) and make sure that there isnt something like a plastic bag stuck in front of the condensor.

That's all I got for now. It sucks that it's running hotter now than it did when ambient temps were hotter.

Good luck Eric.

Well passing people is actually WOT in 3rd gear but you get the idea. Its mainly on the interstate.Im pretty sure there isnt a bag anywhere but ill check everything when the motor cools down. Thanks

do a radiator flush and maybe get a new temp sensor it was like 15$ at autozone
also maybe do thermostat
me and stanger007 did it on my car recently and it helped the temps alot, i live in baton rouge so i know the heat btw

It's been crazy hot down here lately (except for yesterday and today). A radiator flush w/ less antifreeze and thermostat change to a 180 would work wonders I bet.

We just did this on Sage2k's car last weekend and it helped him out.
