I took my car to the muffler shop today with no mufflers.. just runnin with the Catco H pipe.. and it was hElla loud.. so i got done at the muffler shop i just but some flows on it... and when he started it it still sound like chit.. it was loud as heLL still.. you couldnt even hear the roar of the flowmasters... he said that the cats are probably clogged up.. do u agree or wat?
If it was real loud before (with cats) and now with new mufflers it does not sound as good, then that suggests something new right?
It can take time for the new mufflers to 'break in' (I am not sure if they start sounding better due to break-in, or because I get used to them).
Is it dumped after the mufflers? Tubes would probably quiet it down and make it sound a little more mellow.
Good luck.

Sounds like a bad leak before the H-pipe. Clogged cats would make it quieter...

i did the exact same thing you did, drove it to the muffler shop with open pipes (can you say NASCAR sound?!?) and after the flows were installed it was about a quarter as loud. Something must be seriously screwed up with that install, take it back.
i had the mufflers on the car already so they werent new.. they just werent connect to the H pipe.. he tightened all the exhuast bolts for me bc he said they were loose.. but it still sounds like crap..
if this helps any.. my friend that was following me said that fire was comming out the back of my car

check where the hpipe meets the headers sounds to me like there are not meeting. maybe a stud is messed up and u think its tight whens its not. i had this happen on a camaro. also make sure there is a donut between them if they are shorties. if it blows out it will sound alot worse then a exhust leak.

fire huh? you must have gotten a flamethrower installed instead of the exhaust...haha
you're definately leaking somewhere
you're definately leaking somewhere
the guy at the muffler shop spent a moment tightening them up.. and now that i think about it i dont think i put the donuts in.. they came in the exhaust manifold gasket set correct?? i got them sittin right here lol.. i really hope that solves the problem

i would assume they would of come with it all it is a rong hard silver ring metal. im cant remeber if ford uses them but i dont see how they couldnt you need some type of gasket there. long tubes use the paper type.they only ones i can think of that dont is mac i believe i could be very wrong tho lol.
cant hurt to check let me know what happens either way

sorry for the double post but i re read you last and u found them im tired and didnt comprehend the last at first
yea that should do it then what happens if u dont have then is u tighten the bolts but the threads dont go all the way up the stud so the nut bottoms out and it will leave a gap between you exhaust and header. u might not be a ble to feel it i couldnt. but anyways that should work let me know
