I have a 2001 mustang bullitt. It is all stock except for upr x-pipe w/o cats and an slp lm2 cat back. Anyways, I was downshifting while coming to a traffic light and it sounded like the engine was humming or siezing up. The rpms droped and the car stalled out. I started it back up and it ran fine. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before. Could it have been caused by bad fuel or could it be something else? Also I have heard of the IAC stalling out cars, but never having the humming come with it. Any advice to fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

The IAC valve has a solenoid that toggles on and off (as commanded by the PCM). It is possible that the solenoid is failing or is making a buzzing noise. I suggest you get Ford OEM (electronic) parts (no, I'm not a parts guy). You can test the IAC by using a 9V battery and checking to see if the solenoid moves as expected. You can clean the valve portion with electric contact cleaner or brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Do this FAR AWAY from your paint (and any ignition sources!). Spray, tap, spray, tap, etc. until all the crud has been knocked out. Cleaning is not a long-term solution but it will be enough to keep things running until your replacement comes in. (Search for IAC and you will get thousands of threads, lol).
