Just got some new ford racing wiresand an msd coil so i put them on with the exception of the coil wire which was too shortand retained the motorcraft wire which was still 8mm. before i changed the wires and coil the car ran fine, now it runs rough . The wires are on in the correct position. Now im getting a heavy gas smell and a sputter from the passenger side which sounds like an exhaust leak but there is none. Does it have anything to do with wires being 9mm and spark plug gap, I dont know can anyone help. Id like to get my car back to running good again. Thank you.

It's likely the gas smell is unrelated to the SP wire change. Make sure you didn't disturb or remove the vacuum line on the FP regulator. In fact pull the vacuum line off and make sure there is no gas in the line itself. If there is, then the regulator has probably failed internally and needs to be replaced. Also make sure one of the injectors has not dislodged and is leaking fuel onto the intake (if so this might be where your sound is coming from). Make sure you keep a fire extinguisher handy until you find the source of that gas smell !

Put the stock coil back on and see what happens.

The HO firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
Non HO firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
