I think I have a problem here.

Just put in my new injectors, MAF and fuel pump. Car will start up and run for about 3 seconds, then die out. If I hit the gas, it still dies out.

I have very little gas in the tank. If I didn't have enough gas for it to run up to 10 seconds or longer, would it keep starting for a few seconds?

If that's not the reason, what the hell could it be?

What should i be checking for malfunction? When the car is running for those few seconds, the check engine light isn't coming on, which either

a) really puts me at a loss.
b) makes me feel retarded because it IS the lack of fuel

Help! :p

That's what I'm on my way to do. The thing is, If I have to pull the tank down again for some reason, I want as little gas in there as possible or I will be wearing it like last time

her'es hopin'..

Put 2 gallons in there, and elimate that as a prob. I would hook my pressure guage to it and see if it is starving or not, but you may not have one or want to spend $20 on one right now. Next question. Is you pump staying on till after the motor quits, or is it shutting off before the engine. You should hear it run for a second or two after the motor stalls.

1. The fuel pump still stays on after the engine dies.
2. We put more gas in and the same problem occurs

Now, we were noticing the fuel rails were giving a hiss sound for a couple seconds at the turn of the key. Should this happen? If not, what do I look for?

Maybe its getting too much fuel, try creating a vacuum leak and see if it will run for longer. Have you considered checking fuel pressure? Are your MAF and injectors designed to work together? I would do simple stuff, like unplug the MAF sensor and see if it will run in limp mode. This can help narrow it down. I would even try pulling the codes, even though it hasnt run much and no light has been tripped. Just stick to easy stuff at first and stay calm. You know there is a good chance that the prob is something you worked on. Is the BAP sensor clear of obstructions? maybe some insects built a home in there while the car was down.

You mean there is an audable hiss fromt he rail like pressure escaping of noise transfer from the pump? if there is an actual hiss I would check for leaking fuel. if the pump is coming on and you have fuel in there and no restrictions in the lines then you should have fuel, also pull the conector off the MAF it will pull it out of the loop and eliminate that as a possible cause.

No leaking fuel that we can see, the hiss is gone, and something new:

I did not have the blower puley hooked up during the first trials. We unhooked the blower discharge tube, MAF and air filter from the throttle body and let the TB just pick up its own air. The car ran for almost a minute before dying out, MUCH longer than before.

Is it safe to say the blower not pushing enough air to match my 30# injectors is causing my problem? I have my friend putting the pulley system & belt on right now as i type this, btw...we're going to try it. I just want ideas and to let everything I do be said here, hoping to finally nail this down.

Thanks!

Oh and the constant fuel pump running could just be the relay. My relay stuck on once even after I removed key the pump ran.

how do i reset the eec? the engine seems to be running fine now - BUT still have a huge coolant leak where the egr spacer meets the throttle body. F'n gaskets won't seal or something

You reset the EEC by disconnecting the neg. batt. cable for more than 5 min. Now it running good except for a coolant leak at the egr spacer, dont run it till you fix that and make sure there is no water in the cylinders before you start it again. That leak can cause water to go down the intake, causing major damage in a worst case scenario.

Ok, then yea that's been done.
Got the coolant leak fixed but now another problem.

The car will not run with the blower tube attached to the TB. It'll go 3 seconds and die out. With the tube disconnected from the TB, it will go fine. I am really stumped.

Also, the hiss in the area of the fuel rails has come back, this time when the car dies down. I am going to check more tomorrow for broken hoses as this obviously is a vacuum leak somewhere.

One more question: When the key is turned and the fuel gets shot up to the rails, I can feel it flowing constantly through the pass. side rails. I cannot feel it shooting thru the driver's side rails. Am I supposed to or is it a "maybe you can, maybe you can't" thing?

Thanks everyone for the help - this ruined my night :p

hmm...now that's a brand new MAF directly from Pro-Flow? if so that would eliminate the MAF to be defective...did you check your injectors to make sure they are all the way in to the lower intake as well as the connection? That could have something to do with the hissing...Also what size fuel pump do you have? Hopefully it's enough pressure to run with the blower...BTW how much boost are you running and getting away with 30# injectors? Do you have an FMU? If so you have to match the pills for te specific injector...at least on the vortech's you do... You might have some idle problems and you may have to open up the throttle plate a bit but turning that screw on the bottom of the TB...Lastly do you also have an external fuel pump as well?

The fuel pump is 255, no external pump, and the MAF is used but functionable (friend). No FMU (crap) and A trim pushing 5# of boost tops.

The funny thing is - I had the blower working PERFECTLY with stock injectors, stock fuel pump, no FMU, and stock MAF last summer. Now that I put these fuelie upgrades in, it's 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'. I'm not sure if it's the combo of the new parts or a vacuum leak/mechanical gremlin giving me trouble.

Just for sh-ts and jiggles unhook your battery overnight to reset your eec, and try that....
If it runs without the maf,, sounds like a faulty maf bro,,If so I think mike dez or eric L can check it for you,, they are pro-m distributors....
the hissing noise,, not a clue.. never heard a hissing noise
sounds like the fuel pump is working if it runs with out the intake hose on...
And I have the same problem with the damn coolant leaking out of my t-nody egr spacer too... I also need to replace my gaskets now,, stuped me for using a torque wrench,, should have just gunned it on,, LOL

I will try unhooking the battery, thanks.

The gasket problem was weird, I used two different ones and both were brand new out of the package that day!
