car smoke and its not the tires

ok guys i started the car up np drove to get some gas when i started the car up again to drive off i noticed a cloud of white smoke and i was like wtf got the car to look the cloud faded away drove home turned the car off and on again

no cloud i looked in my engine bay and noticed a little oil leaking from passenger side of valve cover but thats about it

car runs ok

is there anything else i need to check out could my car be telling me that something bad is starting

thxs


i did a search cant find what i am looking for

white smoke is usually not a good thing... check your plugs maybe, see what they are doing. how consistantly does it smoke? and does it smell? how many miles on it?

Did you by chance put diesel in instead of gasoline? I can't remember what color smoke you get, but it'll smoke like crazy.

this is like the second time i have seen it in a month both times were just after i filled up the tank

the car has never overheated 58790 miles on it runs idles fine

just a blast of white smoke right after i restart the car

i turn the car on in the morning no smoke car idles fine i drive some were
turn car off come back turn car on blast of white smoke goes right a way
no more smoke even if i turn the car off then on again


does not smoke when sitting or driving that i can observe

going to check the plugs
---------- antifreeze
----------see if i can get it to puff again
-------will do a compression test

White smoke from the exhaust is normally a sign of coolant burning from a leaking or blown head gasket. It is normally accompanied by a "sweet" aroma from the coolant. Check your anti-freeze level and if low, add to top it off. Monitor the level for the next week. If it goes down, you probably have a head gasket problem.

White is antifreeze, blue is oil, dark grey means the car is running rich and dumping some fuel out the tail pipes. The last one usually only happens when you're at WOT and shifting gears. Your's sounds like antifreeze. Check your engine oil. If it's kinda milky that's bad news, means antifreeze in the oil. If you start the car and let it run for a few seconds and check your dipstick to see if there is anything "frothy" about what's on it. It sounds like a good time to change your oil to check just in case. A few bucks on oil could save your thousands if it is a blown gasket. Good luck. I'm usually down about a liter of oil when I change mine every 5000km. Our cars tend to burn a little.

if you are really getting on the gas in the morning and it only does it once, it could be that you are blowing some condensation out of the exhaust pipes. something that us new englanders see all the time when it gets cold at night, check your oil, and coolant levels, see if you are loosing either, i would guess that its condensation in the exhaust pipes, expsecially if it only does it in the morning and then doesn't do it the rest of the day.

could be your clutch on its last leg when i blew my clutch right before it was shooting white smoke but thats my 2 cents

if the white is coming out of your exhaust pipes, its not your clutch, otherwwise he is right, does it smell like burn't clutch?
