Car stereo question....

so i finally decided to put a new stereo in my 93 hatchback and lo and behold i have power but no sound ok so a little history the prior stereo which was stock would work on and off after finally i thought it went but obviously that wasnt the problem.... could it be the amp or do i have a short some where and am i better off re wiring everything and getting new speakers.... thanks

Did you use the aftermaket wiring harnesses to connect the new radio? Or did you cut it? Did you have a both a radio unit and a seperate cd unit under it? If so you need 2 harnesses one for the radio one to connect the amp and speakers. If those amps are blown you would be better off re-wiring the entire system unless you want to replace the factory amps.

I have the harness with the 2 plugs I'm too lazy and really don't want to rewire everything if I don't have to anyone know where I can get a stock 93 amp or aftermarket with the same hookups

Check ebay & craigslist for the factory amp. Or else your probably gonna have to go to Ford.

Found one on eBay just didn't want to spend 100 bucks on it lol

are you sure you connected the blue-amp/ant wire? Also most aftermarket stereos have a setting to turn the amp wire power on and off in the function menu

Yea both are plugged prior stereo has same problem just cheap and lazy cuz I rather spend money on performance parts than stereo lol also have a Ducati to up keep

heh, i'm sorta there too ... not too interested in spending lots of time or money on the stang, all my energy these days is going into the fairlane. perhaps lazy isn't the right word, we are just deciding to spend our time on other, more important, things

A man these cars are hobbies. We are not all rich on here so Im not mad atcha at all. And it makes sense to put the money into performance right now anyways. The stereo is a easy to do. But as far as that amp. Try the junkyard as well.
