car wont go in gear, but when car is off it goes in gear???

it started a few days a go and just got worse, when i push the clutch in, i gotta puse the shifter really hard to get it any gear and now it wont even go in gear.

but when the car is turned off, it goes all gears except 5th!!!!
whats goin on??

I had the same problem....clutch....I had to turn the car off at every light to get into first gear...$th of July at Mertyle Beach...that sucked.

yep, i put it in gear, then turn it back on, but it still wont go from first to second, the cluth has less than 3,000 miles on it, although it is from napa.

pull up on the clutch pedal and push it back in do this 2 times. if nothing changes then get a firewall adjuster

I friends car did the same thing. It was his clucth. The disc had damn near fell apart.

replace clutch, throw out/release bearing, get a firewall adjustable cable, and get your flywheel turned

Mine done that..Pulled out the t5 and the synchros were shot, tailshaft cracked, case cracked, brass shot...SPEC III was perfect..

Its NOT the clutch! Its either a warn cable or worn firewall cable bushing. Pull the cable and check it or replace it and definatly consider a firewall adj.

yep, i was having the same problem with mine but not as bad. so the other day i looked around and noticed that my clutch cable had been routed around something on the k member and was making almost a 90 degree angle. pulled it off and it works great now. now i just need a new trans

Mines been doing that the clutch has 200 miles on it adjusted it a little it got a little better. Ill just wait for the tranny to let go and then i go tremec.
