Hi guys,
Well the car's been stored for the winter and I decided to turn it over again today since I haven't in about 2 weeks. The battery is charged fully and I even used a jump starter to try and turn it on but nothin'. The motor doesn't turn over. I just hear a loud tick that goes very fast. It sounds like taking a wooden spoon and rubbing it against a fence as you walk by.

Battery is good... not getting a turnover. Just a fast-tick.

Any ideas? Starter? Solenoid? What's the difference? lol

I'm new with my baby when it comes to engine details.... could use some simple help.

Thanks,

I agree with FIRE14142002, I had this problem on my '70. I am too cheap to buy a battery cut-off switch so I just unhook the batt. cable when I don't plan to drive it for a couple of weeks. anywho, if i don't get the batt. cable back on tightly or if it is not clean, than I experience the same conditions you described.

sounds more like there is not enough juice getting from the battery to the solenoid. the battery posts need to be cleaned and check to see if all connections are tight. this is nothing more than a voltage problem.

Also check the other end of the ground wire. Clean that off & retighten that as well.

Oz... You're starting to sound like SuperDave
