car won't start when warmed up and hot outside

I'm thinking this is the IAC motor, but just wanted to ask anyways.

If my car is at operating temperature (warmed up) and it's above 87°F outside my car will act like a typical car with the stuck IAC (start then instantly dies). Well if it's in the low 80's and lower the car will start perfectly fine when warmed up. It doesn't act up in rain, or on cold starts either...just very hot days.

edit: it's a 2001 gt. Sorry it starts but doesn't stay running.

Sounds like it is badly in need of a general tune up. How many miles are on:
-air cleaner
-plugs
-fuel filter

The car has 56,000 on it.

fuel filter changed at 45,000
air filter changed at 54,000
fuel filter changed at 30,000
plugs were also changed at 30,000 (or maybe 45,000)

Try tapping the IAC with a long handle screwdriver when the car is having the problematic behavior. If the problem temporarily goes away it is def the IAC.

Yeah that's what I'm waiting for. It was a bit strange that it shows no signs of anything but when the outside temps creep up it just does it. The other thing about it is cool down time before I can drive it without the dying is very intermittent sometimes 30 minutes other times a few hours.

Well I picked up a IAC motor on the way home from work. By the time I came home I walked inside and 15 minutes later popped back out and sure enough it wouldn't stay running. So I tried the tapping and it didn't work...needless to say I was fairly annoyed. So I just grabbed the new IAC motor and put it on anyways. Well it started up and ran like it should...well that seems to be the one and only problem I've had with this car.

proper care and maintanence keeps these engines running strong for a very long time
