Car wont start?? WTF

Sometimes after driving my car for awhile it wont start back
up. Its like I'm not pushing the clutch in. The battery if fine and it does not click or anything, it just wont do *****. WTF
Could the starter be getting hot and fouling up? I dont want to take it to the dealer because of my mods. The o/r-x runs right beside the starter and I
know they will blame that.
Can Someone Help????

Are those long tube headers? If not, then the dealership should not have any problem with looking at it.

Also, if your starter is bad, they can not show that your headers caused your starter to malfunction. Even if you took the starter off and put it back on.

When my alternator went bad, my dealership replaced it, even though I had upgraded to the KB kit.

That happened to me a few weeks ago. I wiped off the maf and just waited a while and it started right up. Check the IAC. Ive heard of others having this problem and thats how they fixed it.

What exactly is the IAC?

I doubt its the IAC (Idle Air Control), because it sounds like your starter is not turning over sometimes. If it was the IAC then your motor would turn over but not start.

The IAC is located near the throttle body. It has a hose coming out of it and connects to one of the two ports on the Air Filter hose.

With a clogged-up IAC valve your engine will still crank, it might even fire, but as soon as it does, it'll choke. You can keep it going by hopping on the throttle and staying on it a little.

Doesn't sound like the IAC though, since you're not even turning over. It does sound like a problem with some ignition component overheating, not some sensor or valve. Does the starting system need info from the computer to crank? Maybe your clutch interlock switch is shorting out and overheating or something? Does the car crank fine after you cool down?

Yes, after the car sits for awhile it will start fine. I had my tuner check my x-pipe and they said it had a leak on the driverside. Since then it has only done it once.

I just fixed a Roush Mustang that a "Speed" shop and the Dealership gave up on - after they replaced a good starter and a good starter relay. The problem that I found was a bad ignition switch (not the keylock assembly). If you ever have a problem with your keylock you'll usually get a real rapid "theft" light flashing when you try to start the car.

Also, a quick test for the starter during a "no crank" is to hold the key in the start position while someone *bumps* the starter (not the solenoid!) with a hammer. I've even seen a few bad battery cables (internal corrosion) that gave the same symptoms.
