Car won't start

1992 5.0 auto. starter replaced, solenoid replaced and battery. All accessories come on and was starting fine after replacing all these. Then it started happening again. Click, click sound from solenoid no engage to starter though. I cleaned all the wire ends to the solenoid and removed it and scraped the paint off under where it mounts and nut and bolted it instead of using the sorry ass sheet metal screws. It would jump from the solenoid, but now it's just nothing. Any suggestions? I'm at a whole new level of aggravation with this thing and can't think clearly without wanting to destroy it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

new/reman'd stuff fails all the time. ive had them test bad before i buy them.

about the only other way of testing that comes to mind: when you jump the solenoid, you are jumping the lugs, correct? that would rule out the solenoid (if you jumped the trigger wire, the solenoid could be bad). unlikely though.

just for fun, have you set up a spare battery, like a jump start.....just to rule out the battery?

you could touch a battery cable to the starter wire (like the solenoid does) to see if that does anything.

last thing i can think of is that your starter solenoid to starter cable is kaputt. you can do a drop test on it if ya want....

im just trying to think of stuff for ya to try before having to remove the starter......but it very well could be the starter itself.....

good luck.
