hey guys I have a 93 auto that wont start. when I hit the key the fuel pump primes, but the engine wont turn over. I pulled code 522 which means that the car is not in N or P. I replaced the neutral safety switch and I still get the same code.Checked all the fuses which are fine, I then checked the starter which tested fine, went through all the grounds and connections in the motor going to the starter and everything is good. why wont my car start? is it that pesky 522? if it is how do I get rid of it?

anyone? I pulled the starter back out and bridged the two poles and it spins, so I hooked a jumper wire put the starter back in, but it just spins like its not catching the fly wheel, anyone had this issue before?????

There could be a few issues here. First off, is your starter solenoid good? That is what relays the power to the starter. Also, is the solenoid getting a 12V signal from the ignition switch through the wire hooked to the solenoid? I would also consider replacing your ignition switch. It sounds like that may be going bad and when you are turning your key to the start position, it is not sending the 12V signal to the starter solenoid. As for the starter not engaging the flywheel, that could be a bad starter or a chewed up flywheel. I would maybe diagnose your electrical problem first though.
