My car won't stay running. It turns over then dies. The whole time the theft light is flashing on the dash board. I tried with both of my keys and had no luck  . Any ideas what might be wrong. TIA.
Oh yeah it's a 97 GT 5 speed.

Disconnecting the battery won't do anything but clear the keep alive memory in the PCM. Check your fuses, if you lose power to the PATS module, it will give you that symptom. Good luck. :nice:

I'll check the fuses. I don't think there is a button to push by the light. I tried pushing the unlock button on my remote no luck. It is about -2* outside. I'll try again in the morning when it gets a little warmer.

Could be numerous reasons why your car does this. IAC, malfunctioning mass air sensor, fuel deliver problem, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel pump, alternator. Is there a check engine light? don't disconnect your battery, wtf... if there were trouble codes you would erase them like that.

No MIL. I have a scanner, so I can clear all my MIL's. I haven't touched anything on the car in long time. I drove it for the first time yesterday. It had snowed and it sat for 5 days. I went to go some place last night and it acted up.

You should check the wiring out under the steering column and around the PATS/transciever. If the wiring is OK, you may want to invest in a new transceiver for the PATS, that is a likely cause of your problem. :nice:
