Carb and intake combo question.

I am having my engine rebuuilt this week and having a larger cam being installed. The mechanic who is doing the rebuild got the cam and said it would be appropriate for a mild engine that sees a lot of street driving. However, he said that I am going to need a carb that runs flows at least 500 cfm.

I thought up two setups, since i am on a tight budget i would like to go with the first setup but the dealer at a local performance shop said that the second setup would be more cost effective and get me better mileage.

1. Stock 2 bbl intake and 500 cfm holley 2bbl carb

2. A 4 barrel aluminum intake with a holley 600 cfm or eadelbrock 500cfm carb

What do you guys think?

run a performer intake with a 500-600 cfm carb. a 500 edelbrock or 525 road demon carb are good choices. also run a set of small tube headers, tri-y's are good for low end and mid range power, and dual exhaust as well.

I have just the setup for you. FMS A321 and Holly 600. It is a dual plane good for the 1500-6000 range. I had it on my bone stock 302 and it kicked a**. With an engine pulling better from a rebuild it will be real nice. PM me

He is right, you would be better off with #2, if you can afford it.

I just recieved my Weiand Stealth intake and Holley 600cfm Carb...
so, yeah...that would be my suggestion.

Just out of curiosity, how do you pronounce "Weiand" correctly?

I think it itis pronounced kind of like "Y" as in "Y" and "und" or "ind"

"Y"-"ind" = Weiand

"Y"-"und" = Weiand
I dont know but thats how i say it.

Any way I am going to go ahead with the 4 bbl intake and most likely an eadlebrock 500. just because eadle's require less tuning and holleys are more race applicated.
