Ok i have a 1970 boat with a 150hp 4cly motor... Boat does run... but when turn it off and try to start it again it wouldnt start... so i figured out the fuel pump was not pumping right... took it apart cleaned it and tryed it again! Now it works great infact a lil to great ! lol its shooting gas out the carb..

My ? is i have two adjustment screws at the bottom i tryed playin with them and it didnt seem to help at all...

Is there away to adjust the carb inside? seems like float isnt working right?

Is there any kind of adjustment on the manual fuel pump?

its a 2bl carb 500 any tips thanks

Any chance the boat sat all winter and you are just firing it up this spring? If so did you store the boat with gas in it? If so I suspect the problem is that you are varnished up and need to clean the carbs now.

More info would help.

What motor? 2.3 Ford, GM Iron Duke?

What carb-Rochester, Webber Motorcraft?

That aside, if fuel is shooting out of the carb when the fuel pump is operating, you most likely have the carb float stuck open.

Should be a simple fix. Remove and inspect it. It may have a leak and be full of gas, and need to be replaced. Otherwise, there may be dirt under the needle, or the linkage or float is binding.

On a boat, with an inboard, you need to have this fixed and installed properly. A fuel leak and fire on a boat is major pain.

it is a GM Rochester 2 barl carb... i think its 4.0L engine.. its a buddy boat he just got...

carb has been cleaned out and engine has been running... but we had a problem with the pump not working all the time for some reason... Fresh gas has been run threw the system... now got the pump working good and now the carb i guess needs adjusted... i guess i will pull it apart and see how it is...

I know I have had little pieces of dirt get into my carb and it caused float bowls to stick. I never know how they get in there because I run 2 fuel filters. Always something to take our time away from enjoying our toys.

depends on where the fuel is coming from. might be float bowls stickin. might be that gas is leakin out of the side of the carb. depends on how long its been sittin. could be that the better running fuel pump is pushin more pressure into the carb causing it to leak becuz the carbs been sittin an needs to be rebuilt. idk JMO but good luck an hope its gets takin care of soon.

I think we found the problem... cleaned the carb out... we found we werent getting spark after it runs a lil bit... we had very faint spark... so we are chargin the battery up and see if changing the coil helps
