Has anyone ported there carbed manifold or had any experience running one of the wilson manifolds or other companies products. I read an article were panhandle performance or possibly so other speed shop ported the heads and intake and it made a big difference, just looking for personal experience or comments. Thanks

what I want to know is, if porting my weiand stealth or port matching to the heads will make a noticeable difference. I know it's a good manifold but when I look at it there is a lot or casting flack and ruff surfaces, I wanted to get some personal experiences or opinions before I called up wilson's to get in to details.

If theres enough extra there on the manifold it couldnt hurt. And matching the ports is only going to improve performance. You may not see significant gains from it but every little bit counts.

This is from Wilson Manifold's web site:

Intermediate porting consists of porting the critical areas of the plenum including the divider walls and roofline, and port matching to either your heads or to a gasket. This cost effective service provides improved performance and distribution characteristics when compared to an out of the box manifold.

I'm considering this but someone on another forum mentioned that he had called and they wouldn't touch his manifold unless the had the heads and the block, because the deck height and gasket height etc... all factored in to the finished job. Which all makes plenty of sense, but this isn't a inexpensive service and i'm looking for any comments, suggestions, or opinons

What does your engine look like? What cam do you have, what carb, what transmission is matted to the engine? Do you have headers installed? What heads do you have?

Engine is not finished yet, it's a 347 with box stock AFR 185s and the weiand stealth, hooked to a T5 going into my 85. I haven't picket the cam yet, but i'm thinking of getting a custom grind, and as for the carb i'm calling BIGS so whatever they say.
