got a few questions for you guys.

1)what did you do for fuel lines from the tank to the carb.

2)will a 600 holley work on a setup with cleaned up stock heads, tfs stage 1 cam, and 1.7 rockers?

3)how do you get a duraspark distributor to work, am i gonna need the duraspark ignition module and coil for it to work?

4)what fuel pump and regulator do you guys recommend?

thanks fellas

Answers:

1) stock lines, but with higher hp setups you'll wanna run aftermarket lines.

2) a 600 will work great

3) you'll need a duraspark ignition unless you run an MSD or similar ignition, as well as the coil to go with it.

4) i'm running stock mechanical fuel pump untill i get heads and a cam, then depending on power numbers, i'll either get a high performance Holly mechanical or convert to electric pump.

If your car is stock EFI, you'll need to replace the fuel pump with a fuel pick up....we use just plain old fuel line cut to the same length as the fuel pump itself, with a fuel filter on the end. You can then either run an electric pump or convert your timing chain cover to one with a slot for mechanical fuel pump and run that.

thanks for the help man. yeah i plan on running an electric pump. did you just cut the ends off the factory line or did you just put the rubber line with a hose clamp on the end of it. i think thats what im gonna end up doing so i dont have to cut up something that i might need later. so if i find a duraspark distributor i can just run an msd 6al or the duraspark ignition box? damn, i really wish i could reuse my coil but i guess ill have to part with that also.

it has to be a distributor off of an 85 gt with a 4bbl carb and 5spd. that is the only year that used duraspark and a roller cam. you should try a street avenger 570. i used one for a day on my stock headed car with long tubes and a small rv cam when it was flat tappet and it screamed. i had a 600 edelbrock before and the street avenger revved much faster and had better acceleration. you could also do a homemade HEI ignition and use your same coil.

well my buddy has all the stuff i need or can get it, and the holley 600 is what is available. i actually think the distributor he has is an old style points dizzy, but ill convert it to electronic before it goes on.

You can use the TFI coil, you just have to wire it up from the ignition box and not from the factory harness....i'm not sure why, maybe something to do with the computer i'm guessing, but before i got my Unilite i was using a TFI coil and it worked great. I tried to do the HEI conversion http://www.carbdford.com/tech/HEI/hei.htm
but i was unsuccessful...it wouldn't fire for some reason. I bought a used Unilite for 100 bucks and my car runs better than ever. You can't beat wiring the ignition up with 2 little wires and calling it a day.
