I have the setup in my sig. We got the carb conversion and MSD install done today and took it out driving to see how the carb worked out. It ran fine with the holley 750 carb with H69 or 70 jets in, but it felt like it lost power going into 3rd gear and as rpms got around 3grand in 3rd it just stopped pulling and kinda cut out.
So next we tried a carb my buddy had in his garage, it was a ProForm(something like that?) DP wet tested around 750-800crm I think he said, it had H79 jets in.This carb has some holley parts on it too though. Like this here http://truckworld.tenmagazines.com/How-To-Tech/02_holley_upgrade/holley_upgrade.html With this larger carb on the car it pulled sooo hard 1st, 2nd and half of 3rd gear. I would have thought going to a larger carb on my motor would have caused a loss in power. We went back to the Holley 750 and tried using H72 jets. The motor didn't cut out going into third but still didn't have any pull from 3000+ in 3rd gear. Why did the motor pull harder with a larger carb on my motor?
What carb would you suggest for my setup?650DP? the motor has about 10.7:1 compression, the intake side of the heads flow around 230, the valve size is the factory size for '69 351W C90E heads (maybe 1.84/1.6 ?) valves had a 5 angle job also. the heads were milled ".080.
