hey guys, so my buddy and I attempted to rebuild my carb on my 200ci and I believe I have the ford 1100 carb. I ordered the rebuild kit which is very basic. so we put it all back together with all 4 balls and the car wouldn't start. so we noticed that the ball in the "dist. check". was only for 223 and 262 engines so we removed it and it ran but it would try to stall out. and after a while it just didn't want to turn on. not sure where we went wrong. we need help cuz were kinda stumbled with this carb issue. please if anyone has had this problem before we need advice. thanks so much

the kit was for 1100, 1101, and f1. so I figured that we took out we put back in....the only problem is that we dropped the balls so we just put them back in by how the instructions told us to do. and how much fuel usually sits inside of the carb? I see that when the float is up it shuts the needle valve and there little flow, so if it's too full in the chamber, will it limit fuel flow??

The float level should be set before putting the airhorn back on the engine.

I believe the 1100 carburetor only uses 3 check balls. If you are installing 4, then that may be your problem.

Is this an early Mustang with the Load O Matic distributor or the later version with standard vacuum and centrifical advance?

yes it's a 66 straight6 200ci engine

I am making the assumption you have the correct carburetor for that distributor, as the carbs and distributors are not interchangeable between the two different systems. Now just want to be sure you have the 3 balls in the correct holes and the weight sitting on top of its correct ball.

so I have a 66 mustang coupe its s straight 6 200ci. I just decide to rebuild the carb witch is a single barrel 1100 carb and car was run fine befor rebuild just did it to clean it up. we put it back on now car runs terribly misfire want to stall out if Im not playing with the choke. we took it aprt again made sure everything was good and it was and it still wasnt working right we did all the right adjustments so looked on line and a after finding that, that ford carb suck just to see if it was the actual carb that wasn't working we put a carb from a 50 Chevy truck exta carb that we had it ran great. so it turned out to be that 1100 carb. so basically I wanted to kno what other carb I can use that will go or fit on my car ???

You have to use a Ford 1100 carburetor made before 1968 that is setup for a load-o-matic distributor. It is identified by the valve screwed into the side that looks like a power valve. If you go to a newer distributor with advance weights, you can use a newer style carburetor. All 1100 carbs are not equal. Depending on engine size, you will have different sized venturis. There are earlier Holley carbs that will work off of Falcons and Comets, but those have venturis sized for 144 and 170 CI engines which means you will lose power. If you want your carb restored back to 100% like new, you can contact Pony Carburetors on the web.
