will a 600cfm carb be fine on my 390 bigblock just for daily driving, i had my aluminum intake and heads taken off so its almost stock ( till i can afford a new hipo one )

im glad its going to work hes dropping it off tonight and his shop just rebuilt it, i plan on getting a better one like a barry grant or something when i get the money
there was a crack in the bolt hole for the distributer so i got a stock one for free and it didnt want to go on correctly with my aluminum heads, so we put the stock ones back on
they tried that but the heat just made the bolt hole bigger so they sent it off back to edelbrock
it was all done for free 
thankfully , im going to put the 600 one on tomarow any guesses on how far im going to have to unscrew the 2 screws? and how do i tell if its running lean or rich?

Start at 2 turns out with both idle mixture screws, screw them in and out till it idle's the highest, or if you have a vacuum gauge, hook it up to manifold vacuum and turn them till you get the highest vacuum at an idle, but you should have them within 1/4 turn of each other.
im not worries about the idle right now im talking about the other 2 screw to adjust if its runnign lean or rich

there was a crack going through the bolt hole the patch it up but then we couldnt find a bolt to fit it. cause of the crack going through it.
There are only two screws that adjust anything, and they are for the idle mixture circuit. Follow my instructions for that. To tell if you are running lean or rich otherwise, you need to look at the spark plugs after a little run time, white being lean and black being rich. Tan = perfect.
The idle circuit affects the whole rpm range, but you should set it at what it likes at an idle and change metering rods/jets as needed.
I assume you're still messing with an Edelbog. Get a manual on how to tune it. You need to take more time to learn the basics. Right now it seems to me you're groping around in a dark room. It pains me to see you this way.
