1 to 2 and 2 to 3 I feel, but it never seems to go into OD. My speedo is way off, looks like its about 15 mph too fast.

92 5.0 Holley 4v Lokar TV. Holley TV corrector
Comp Cams XE-274-HR .555/.565 lift
92 AOD (thunderbird)
2400 stall lock up convertor

I can feel the convertor in 2nd when lugging around the neighborhood. It shifts ok for the other 2 gears but never drops the rpm's down when it seems it should hit 4th.

Hmmm... it sounds like a TV cable adjustment problem, as do most AOD related issues, but I want to make sure I understand you correctly.

You're saying that when you place the transmission in "drive" you can feel 1-2-3, but no OD shift. What I mean is that you're not attempting to manually shift the tranny from 1 to 2 to 3 to OD, right? As you know, the shift pattern for the AOD is 1-3-4, so trying to manually shift will get you that pattern. Otherwise, from my experience, all the AODs I've driven have very quickly slipped through, or completely bypassed second gear anyways. So I just wonder if your tranny is doing the same thing and that you're actually getting 1-3-4? This would kinda make sense within the context of your experience of the "hunting" quality of "second" gear... i.e. it's actually slipping back and forth between 3 and OD. Hell, I don't know...

mine doesn't go in unless i'm doing about 65 and then let off the gas.. then push back on it again.

thats due to the high pressure it is set at for my shift points and for the hard shifts.
who set up you pressure and cable?

Dark Buddah, it is exactly as you describe. Put it in drive and go.

I set up the cable, never checked the pressure. I have tried every which way. Seems to work best if the cable is a little loose just idling, and pulls the tv to what looks nearly 1:1. I guess its time to pick up a guage!

A couple things... definitely set it by a guage, and I've heard that it is important that the cable has the same amount of travel as the throttle. Basically, for every inch of throttle movement, the cable should be moved an inch. This means that the location of where the TV cable attaches to the carb has to be the same distance from the throttle shaft as the throttle cable. Does that make sense???

Perfect sense. I am going to pick up a guage from the parts store tonight. Looking at it, looks like it is working nearly 1:1.

With 3.50 gears, the AOD in Chepie would not go into OD until 45-50 MPH. I agree with above, check the TV cable and adjust.
