im gonna start building the motor i have in my garage, an '87 5.0 HO. im gonna have it bored .030 to 306 using a DSS pro kit and do a slick port and polish job on the E7 heads with some 1.7 roller rockers. then i was thinking of a weiand stealth intake (suggestions on better?) with a 650 carb...then i wanna use a mild cam but not sure which to use. does this sound like a good direction to go? what cam is best? i dont have alot of $ to dump into it, but i want the best i can get for the best price i can. all input welcomed! thanks guys

Bill

The stealth(8020) is fine but you might wanna port it or at least gasket match it to the intake gaskets... and for Your cam shaft please don't get any other alphabet cams.Try a comp grind or a lunati if you must have an" off the shelf cam"

I'm a big fan of the CompCams dual pattern grinds myself. Check out the XE266HR (PN 35-514-8)
It's got a nice profile for a good all around street combo....

They've got others too depending on how tame or extreme you're going to build your engine and your useage.

Don't try to compare it to another manufacturer spec cam, try to choose it based what YOU need. Things like....
Usage: IE street/strip, daily driving, open road course, blower, nitrous, etc
Mods: IE heads, intake, larger TB, MAF, Carb, Exhaust, GEAR SELECTION
Vehicle: IE weight, type

Once you've narrowed it down to a few manufacturers and particular grinds, you may want to give their tech line a call and tell them exactly what you want...actually, I think comps even got a "Cam Recommendation Form"

Ahhh, here it is....
