Carbed Vs. Fuel Injection?

Once again, why?
Carbs are great for the track and make good power. Step on the pedal and flush - it's a gasoline toilet!

EFI RULES on the street for a car that is driven in all kinds of weather, up and down mountains and gets great gas mileage. EFI will make just as much power as a carb and be easier to drive on the street. If isn't hard to tune if you know what you are doing.

There isn't a carb made without computer assist that can do all those things as well as EFI can. The only possible exception would be the IDA or DCOE Webers which cost major $$$ - like $3000 for 4 each IDA 48's and a manifold.

Here's a book that will get you started with how the Ford electronic engine control or "computer" works.

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by Charles Probst: ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.

It's about $20 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select boo...any better with a carb than it will with EFI.

Carb: easy, cheaper, MONSTER power, simple set up

I am still amazed how people are so afraid of EFI even in this day and age of computers running everything. I would imagine it is because people are intimidated by EFI simply because they don't know how it works and think it's just a magic little black box. Who knows.

The fact of the matter is, no fuel system in existence can be calibrated as accurately as modern EFI and nobody can go fast on a fuel system that is not calibrated correctly. An EFI system monitors between 10 and 30 sensors for things such as air temperature, manifold pressure, air density, throttle position, water temperature, etc. and makes decisions on things such as timing and fuel needs somewhere in the range of 40 times before the engine travels through just one degree of rotation! At 7,000 RPM it takes about .0000238 seconds to travel through one degree of rotation. That is one hell of an amazing feat for EFI!

There is just plain no comparison between EFI and carb. Take the time to learn about it and you'll never look back.
