You should have to give up your keys for even considering putting that ricy crap on a mustang! While your at add some neons and a grocery cart spoiler.

To be honest with you guys, I am getting the carbon fiber hood and not painting it. I have a 1996 GT that I am converting to a 281 Saleen. I think the combination of the hood and the body kit make the car look absolutely classy.. All class..

I dont' like the look. with the whole hood differnet it is too much contrast. I have never seen a car with the complete hood different than the rest of the car that I liked.

Don't paint it!! Like others have said CF has been around long before the ricers, just because they have it does not make it bad. And if you are really going for less weight then why would you ADD weight with paint?? I think raw CF looks sweet and should be left alone.

Most people that call them ricey have just seen the pictures of them and never seen one in person. They look horrible in pictures, but in person that can be REAL nice if they're done right. IE: Red car with black rims and dark black tint to match, or a black car or dark car.

Carbon fiber is AMAZING looking in person up close.

You a hater!

CF looks sweet IMO on dark colors. If I had the money Id buy this and leave it unpainted. http://www.importfan.com/product.asp?0=0&1=0&3=4583

It was priced cheaper before I dunno why it went up

Unpainted carbon fibre is definitely NOT rice. (look at the Saleen SR). Just because many ricer cars out there have them, doesn't make it a bad thing. If that were so, you could say turboes are rice, and body kits are rice, and tachs on the dash are rice. Carbon fibre has been used in the auto motive industry long before the ricers came around.

With that being said, paint the hood, but use a thin enough coat that you can still see a "ghost" carbon fibre pattern under the paint

To be honest I'm not totally excited about the carbon fiber look. The reality is this.

1. I HATE the fake hood scoop on the late model mustangs like mine.
2. Our hoods are very heavy, plus I can get heat extractor which might actually help the engine rather than hinder the aerodynamics of the car with the fake scoop.
3. I could paint it later, right?

our hoods are not as heavy as you make them out to be... they are almost as heavy as the CF ones

The only issue with a carbon fiber hood is doing such a basic two-tone look on the car (hood one color, everything else another......not something slick like flames).

On a black car, you're not going to get that kind of contrast. On everything else is when you have to think about it.

Painted or not, carbon fiber body parts = Sooooooo light. My friend has one on his RSX-S.....I swear it doesn't even feel like you're lifting anything.

Since I have a black car, I would consider going unpainted on a CF hood.

I wouldn't call it rice just because it's unpainted. Fake carbon fiber tape on somebody's hood, yes it's rice. Something that's fake and useless is rice. Cutting pounds off the front of your car sure as hell isn't useless.
