They make them for motorcycles at about $5k a pop. I don't think they coud handle the weight/pressure of a car though

My Busa has 240hp and I run anywhere from a 150-200 shot of Nitrous. I do all of my own Mods. I made the swingarm and built the motor from 1300 to 1525cc. I run dual Vortech T-Rex fuel pumps. One for the main Injectors and one for the nitrous. I designed and install the Nitrous system.
My plans for my Stang is to bore and stroke a 4 valve 5.4 modular motor to about 6.0 liters and install a Supercharger.

I'd be afraid of the torque shattering CF wheels. A built-up 5.4 could put down 800+ft/lbs!!! It would be neat, though.

Nice bike!

There was a tid bit in Hot Rod or Popular Hot Rodding a few months ago about a company doing carbon fiber wheels for street cars. I do not see that ever holding up for a race car but it could be done.

The catch is that the center hub of the wheel where it bolts on is made from aircraft grade aluminum, just like your typical Weld Draglite or whatever. CF wheels have been in use in road racing for a few years now, Le Mans and Daytona and such... Those cars are so flimsy though that it really doesnt matter what you make the wheel out of, if you run over a rock the whole car's gonna fly apart.

So assuming you'd need nearly double the amount of material to make a car wheel you'd be paying 8k a wheel.

Can't really see the point. 32k just on rims on a 25k car. Where on Earth would you be happy to park the thing?

Bike parts are normally more expensive than cars parts. Just to give you an idea of the cost.

Pistons $450-$700
Carrillo Rods $800-$1000
Cams $700-$800

To build a typcal 1397cc Hayabusa motor (200- 220 hp) that has all of the Bells and whistles cost $5000-$6000 when you go to one of the Top Builders. Now remember you are only getting 4 Pistons,Con rods and 2 cams. I use to have a 1984 Mustang GT . It had a 460 Bored and Stroked to 514ci(700 hp). Powered by Ford charged me $8000 to build that motor.
