Care to analyze these 1/4 mile runs?

I went back to the track last night after putting on the P's and intake.
I ran on my street tires, w/ full weight (hydraulic jack, spare, tools, etc.). The last times I have are w/o the heads and intake, and done w/o the extra weight.

Best E.T. timeslip:
60'... 2.10
1/4... 14.10
MPH... 97.26

Best MPH slip:
60'... 2.28
1/4... 14.38
MPH... 98.22

Best 60' : 2.0 (first run, w/ about 14.15)

My previous best, w/o the heads and intake, was about 14.57, w/ 2.36 60's, and less weight in the car.

What do you guys think?

But you posted a 2.1 and a 2.2, which isn't horrible, but I just think you could do better. I know 18's are hard to hook though.

I would really look into a tune because you have a pretty impressive list of mods, but your MPH doesn't reflect it.

Yeah, i know, it's kinda frustrating. My worst 60' last night was 2.29, so I def. need practice, but in my defense, I was trying to listen and feel for the tires breaking loose, and I got paired up against some loud-ass cars, so I went too timid. So the problem was not spinning, it was not hitting it as hard as I could.
I really want DR's, but then that's more $$, comined w/ more $$ to buy a helmet when I knock off .02 seconds!

New update, though:
I had missing problems this afternoon, but hadn't noticed any yesterday or this morning. Come to find out that the #7 had melted through the boot (even through the heat sleeve). I'll post pics later, but it was apparently enough to be grounding out the plug. So I took a wire from a bronco we had replaced and put the 90* dizzy end on the plug, and the 45* plug end on the dizzy. Looks stupid, but works! I also put the heat sleeve back on # 7 wire.
I also had what sounded to me like either an exhaust leak or valves tapping or lifters. Turns out a #1 header bolt had walked itself out and disappeared (incidentally enough the side the someone ELSE tightened )
So I bought new header bolts and tightened all the other loose ones down, and VOILA! No more ticking.
Anyway, after working all those things out, does anyone think that any of those little things could've had ANY bearing on my 1/4 times and speed?
Grabbing for straws, sure, but hey- can ya blame me??

Personally, I say good job. Your intake, TB, and heads are all still stock stuff, you have no power adder, heavy a$$ rims, and probably no chip or dyno tune.... seems like you're right where you should be or better....

No actually he's got a TB, intake, and heads, from an explorer but still better than stock, plus the heads are ported.

Yes, those could have had a berring on the performance of the car.

Right, stock stuff. Heads = stock late explorer 5.0. The P heads actually use the same size valves as E7 heads. They arent the biggest power gain. Cobra and early explorer heads have larger valves. As well as Ford Racing GT40 cast and GT40X aluminum heads. Porting of stock heads = marginal gains. TB + plenum = stock explorer. Sorry if I'm down talking your setup, I think its a great low budget street setup and the car must be a blast to drive, and you're running right where you should be so it runs nice and strong. Good work.

No, no offense taken at all. That's exactly what it is - a nice low budget build :nice:
W/ speed density, I can do a VERY mild cam (I have 2 pn's), and/ or a 5-6 lb. blower before needing mass air. i could of course do better heads and intake, but that's all in good time. For the price of my gears installed, I picked up half a second and a few MPH. Stripping some weight, I hope to break 13's and get kicked off the track for not having a helmet. Then I'll be happy :spot:

all i had was the e-cam cobra intake 65mm throttle body 2:73 gears high flow hpipe (with cats) old flows and a hurst shifter on a dying t-5, and yea i ran a 14.001

maybe it was the strip, what side of the track were u on? the left side sucks, i like the right side better
