I've spent thousands on suspension and weight reduction for the mustang, and it's a pretty good all around car. However, the Pre-2004 s2000 comes stock with 240hp, its 2800 pounds, 50/50 balancing, 6 speed manual, 0-60 under 6 sec, 1/4 mile under 14 sec, and 9,000 RPM redline. Its also the most reliable compact premium sporty car you can buy (based on a study on 3 years of ownership). Vtec kicks in smoothly at 6k and carries all the way to 9k. It feels like a mini supercharger kicks in. You should see the dyno; it just spikes. Anyways, as you can see after researching true sports cars out there, I finally fell in love with one. However, I'm not selling the stang.

Hah, awesome. Keep in mind that 2000-2001 it had a plastic rear window, whereas 2002+ has glass. The nice thing about the 2000-2001 is the red/black interior. The 2002+ also has a little bit smoother syncros.

That is the slickest tranny I have ever shifted. Keep the car in the 6 - 9k rpms and it's a beast. It is really a fun car to wind out... No V-8 torque... but fun in a different way. The v-teck kicks hard!

The thing I liked most about the S2000 was the start button and handling. It feels really good. They're quick little cars, but you will definitely notice the low end torque difference. You gotta spin it up high RPM. I like the trans too. It almost shifts itself. No clunking, long thorw, or grinding. My friend wrecked his, and it was totaled by the insurance company. The damage extent: hood crushed, passenger fender crumpled, front support bent, front wheel destroyed, passenger side door was misaligned.....basically the stuff you get in a 45mph collision with a telephone pole. I wasn't driving. The car didn't look all that bad, but the adjuster said due to parts cost and compromise in structral integrity, it was a write off. I think he may have been going a little faster than 45 though.
