The casting numbers and casting dates will give you general info about what model year the block is for and when it was cast. There is nothing about these numbers that will tell you what it came in. The only way to get that info would be with the VIN from the vehicle it came out of. The only 289s that got the VIN stamped into them were some of the HIPOs.
Ditto, nothing in the casting numbers will ever tell you what specific vehicle it was originally installed in. The date code will tell you when it was made/cast. The third character in the casting prefix only tells you what vehicle line the engineering costs were asigned to. Only a near complete teardown will tell you exactly what 289 it is, if it is.
