Everyone I've talked to says that in order to get the stock catback off, the portion behind the muffler has to be cut off. If that's the case, how does the aftermarket catback fit? If I can't take off the stock catback without cutting it, how can I get the aftermarket catback on without cutting it?

yes you need to cut it. aftermarket catback come in two pieces (muffler and tailpipe) that are usually clamped together w/ muffler clamps. Some others bolt together like Mac.

The stock mufflers are welded on and therefore you can't get them over the axle. Aftermarket exhaust systems have the muffler and tailpipe in two pieces like Torch said.

Oh I used a sawzall (sp?) to cut mine off. I just had a friend hold the tailpipe to make sure that I didn't cut too far or cut into anything that didn't need cutting.

Thanks. I got it now.

Another question. A local shop quoted me $250 to weld in 2 Magnaflow mufflers on my stock catback. That sounds WAY high to me. ???How about you?
