need some help choosing a cat-back system. am keeping the factory cats and am considering either bassani, magnaflow, and slp. any info and opinions are greatly appreciated.
1. whats the difference(s) between the magnaflow and magnapak? do they both have the "straight-thru" mufflers? have heard some regard them as just glorified "glass-packs"...
2.have heard the slp with no cats....very loud! how much would retaining the factory cats tone down the sound?
3. have heard the bassani....was wondering if the bx (lower cost w/aluminized pipes....but still kinda pricey) was worth looking into?

would also appreciate any info on quality, fit and finish, etc. of these systems. and finally, does installing a cat-back system in any way void the factory warranty as i would be having this done on an 04 cobra?
ps. which would be considered the best in reducing back-pressure, increasing exhaust scavenging, etc.? thanks!

i just installed magnaflow catbacks on my 03 and i like them...the finish is awesome....to shiny for under the car i think. The price was good also, 360 with the shipping. i put them on my self and was not hard to do, alittle bit of a fit problem on the pass. side but dont be afraid to get the pipe where you want them and TIGHTEN it down good. They sound real good...windows up you cant hear them to load but the sound is back there...just roll down the windows and your hear them!

search for a thread i had a couple of days ago comparing Flowmasters and MAC's. we talked about magna flows in there.

The mufflers can be seen straight through they have a little bend in them inside the muffler but thats how these less restrictive exhaust are.

In my opinion they were a great buy for the performance and price.

"Magnaflow" & "Magnapack" both have similar flow rates, but the 'packs are louder. You can try searching for them over in 4.6L tech, there are a couple of older threads which outline their construction/material (IIRC, the inside is lined with Italian rock wool).

As far as the warranty goes, adding a catback or other mods shouldn't (in theory) void anything, however, it is usually up to your dealership - it depends how picky they are. Some are reasonable, while others have a "no mods" policy. It's best to ask your service writer or other customers who have brought their cobras in for work, they will give you an idea about what you can get away with.
