cats on an off-road x/h/pro chamber?

I have a off road h-pipe right now and two cats waiting to go on, my question is, can I buy a x pipe or pro-chamber and weld the cats in? is there enough room/length to do so? I could simply put cats on my h-pipe and I know that would work but while I'm after more hp the pro-chamber sounds like a cool idea..

or....you could buy a high flow h pipe and save yourself the sweat

If you are already looking into buying a prochamber, why not just buy a quality high flow H pipe with cats already on it?

good points, and that's what I can do, but I saw a dyno of an x-pipe and just over the h-pipe it gained 10 rear-wheel hp from 3000rpm onward.. and the pro-chamber can beat that, so in my trek to 12's I was thinking that it may only cost me an extra $50-$100 to gain that power since I already have my cats and can sell my h-pipe.. that's my thinking..

(of course, to hit 12's I need to upgrade the driver more than anything!) haha.. tx

Yeah but after you hack it all up and stuff it probably wont have that same advantage. Get a high flow bassani. There wont be THAT much of a gain to go through all the trouble.

that's what I'm thinking, was on the edge of the decision, trying to figure out if it was worth it.. tx

yeah dont bother...just buy a pipe with cats...sell the offroad one...

Performance parts or just car parts in general are designed to work a certain way. If you try reengineering them, you are most likely going to fail and make it become a piece of garbage.

I don't really see how putting cats on a Prochamber could hurt it's performance in any way. If you want an x-pipe, you could always get a Dr. Gas kit and use the two cats you have with it.

those pipes, ideally anyways, are not just thrown together. If they are made correctly they are flowed and tweaked, flowed and tweaked, ect till they get everything out of it. Slapping some cats just anywhere on a pipe isnt going to necessarily give you positive feedback, it could hurt the performance. You need to see how these things are made (by reputable companies) and how much work goes into making them. How many dyno pulls they make on them. How many are tossed in the garbage cuz the bends werent perfect. If they saw you throw some cats on there blindly they'd probably laugh at you.

I would just put the cats up close to the headers at the very front of the mid-pipe. That should be far enough to reduce any flow disturbances from the cats. Just using the current h-pipe or putting together a custum Dr.Gas x-pipe would probably be a better idea than chopping up a Prchamber, cheaper at least.

I agree, if you are gonna try your luck at chopping up a pipe, use one you already got. I wouldnt expect miracles out of the flow #s of a chopped up Prochamber by a novice. Experiment with the pipe you have.
