i would like everyones input on this please. i have a bassani catted x-pipe. and everyone around here has been on me about taking the cats off. so my question is would i can any hp from this. i was told that i would but, i was thinking it couldn't be much 1-3 hp. i know it will make the car louder from what i seen.

thnaks for any info on this.

and no i don't have to have them here in alabama.

Stock catted H-pipe vs off-road? You'll gain top end HP and shift the powerband slightly higher into the RPM range (some will say you lose low-end torque, but you just shift it up)

High flow catted-pipe vs off-road? Prob very minimal difference in power.

I personally run cats because I don't want to smell like a gas station everywhere I go and be too loud to the point where the car sounds obnoxious.

Just look at it this way, does your state have the emissons testing. Because it is illeagal to run your car without them. Here in Ohio there is no testing, but the state troppers can and will test your car if they feel the need. Had a buddy that fell into this problem, luckly he had cats...

I assume your bassani's are hi-flows,I would keep them on there. I just put LT's on my car with custom side exhaust & I put magnaflow hi-flow cats on it to help control the smell & for more noise reduction. I don't think I lost any power but it would be hard to prove either way having changed the whole system like I did. just my .02

Leave the cats on, especially if they are high flow models. My little brothers car (302, tfs top end, v3 si trim, c4w/brake, 3.73, and cats!!!) has been 10.90's w/ the ac still hooked up and 2 12" subs in the trunk. Keepin it legal at the same time!
