if the price is right, ill do it. i wont pay someone to install it for me, so if that is the only way it comes, i am out. i can cut my own roof off, and urethane in a piece of glass for much less....

Classic Design Concepts has a glass roof for the S197 stangs. Basically, your roof gets cut out and replaced with full glass on the roof area.

Hmm, interesting. What about body rigidity? Isn't there a beam or two that has been cut out of the roof?

no, the structural integrity of the S197 is in the sides of the roof. there are reinforcements that go across the roof at the front and back. the center is open, because it is a small panel with a lot of crown. the glass is laminated glass, just like your windshield, and should be held in with urethane, just like your windshield. a roll-over accident would be no different than with a coupe. (other than small glass particles from the roof, but you would get that from the windshield also.)

What is more flexible???? A huge sheet of glass, or a thin piece of sheet metal. Have you ever pushed slightly on your roof? Now go push slightly on front windshield and tell me where the rigidity lies. Hope that proved the point, that this could actually strengthen your car. The weight is the only thing that may make a difference, but i say bring it on.

Actually, the beams I'm talking about are boxed steel girders running across the roof.

I think a lot of fords don't use roof cross beams in the roof- wonder why they're undergoing a lot of litigation from rollover injuries? They're built to minimum standards. Heck 2005 is the first year they put the gas tank in front of the rear axle on Mustangs...

here is a quote about the SALEEN SCENIC ROOF....

Saleen Website said:
SALEEN SCENIC ROOF (Optional)

Extend your driving pleasure with the installation of a high quality tempered glass roof. The structurally sound glass roof is tinted and has been tested to meet all federal safety requirements. This option completely replaces the roof of your coupe and provides stunning panoramic views day or night.

i think that the only way you can get the scenic roof is to buy a saleen with that option. i dont think that they are installing them as an aftermarket kit. they want $4,000 for the scenic roof. if you are still interested in that price, you can call them and ask. for $4k, i am out. hopefully next week we will find out the CDC price, and it will be a little more realistic.
