CEL and pinging

couple issues. see if you can point me in the right direction

I get a CEL when 1/2 throttle or push past 3k rpms. also have random pinging but do not always get a CEL at the same time. car has always pinged but has gotten worse. It does not always throw thow the CEL

The pinging is sudden. im used it slowly ping and being able to back out if the throttle. It pings hard instantly randomly starting above 3k rpms.

O2 sensor bad? or?

FIRST pull codes.
what is your timing set at? 10* btdc is stock timing but you can get more pwr. by advancing the timing to about 14* but then you'll have to use premium fuel.
maybe all you need to do is back off the timing or use a higher octane fuel to solve the pinging.

check your timing. it could be that your HB has spun too. look for rubber sticking out of it.

has a new HB and will check timing on my next days off. Keep up the suggestions.

Check timing, clean maf, 93 octane...


All else fails its fricking hot outside.
