I have been getting repeating CEL after about 30 min. of driving my '05 stang GT, after it really warms up I guess.

I have a JTL CAI installed with SCT tuner. The tuner displays the code" P0340 CAM POS, S CIR ER 1 S 1"

After doing a little googling it seems it is a "Camshaft Position Sensor" failure.

The car does seems to drive fine, no rough idling/surging, etc.

I went to the Ford Dealer and picked up a new Cam Sensor, about $35 and installed it, both places, with same results after 30-min. of driving, CEL comes on with same code.

Anyone have this happen or know if it is dangerous to keep driving when the CEL keeps coming on with this sensor error?

Thx for any advice.

Is the CAI and tuner your only mods? No pullies?

Yup, only SCT CAI and tuner, been running fine for close to a year now with normal 91 octane tune.

Can't help ya........

I asked about the pullies because I've read that if the crank pully isn't torqued properly, you can get some kind of crank position fault. However since you don't have aftermarket pullies, I doubt that your pully is vibrating or the balancer has failed. Maybe since you only have the CAI and tune, reinstall the factory airbox and flash back to the factory tune. If you still have the problem, then you rule out the parts that you did install, plus you can likely take it into the dealership for warranty work.

That's alot of miles on the car! You must be enjoying it .

Anyway, hope you get'er figured out. Also, try posting at modularfords.com- there's some pretty good tech-heads there that may know.
