Center console swap

Anyone know if a 2001 center console, the lower section with the cup holders and e brake area will fit in a 96 ?

It should fit...I think the dash's & consoles are the same size from 94-04??

+1 94-04 will work for the center console.. Dont you have the flip up ciggy lighter place on your center console? i really want one but kinda hard 2 find..

They are interchangable, alot of us 96-97 guys use the cupholder sections on the 98-04's to replace the ash tray section on ours.

You will have a gap at the back because of the height raise in the transmission tunnel in 1999, besides that it will work.

hard part is finding matching colors. If you have black, you are screwed

I like not having the '96-'97 console or the dash clock, it's really weird and annoying the little changes Ford makes.

I kinda wish i had the dash clock. My friend's '97 Cobra has it and i like how easy it is to read the time.

I hate trying to see the time on my 6-disk Mach 460. Usually in the AM the sun is low and shines right on it and i need to use my hand to sheild the sun to see how late i am for work and figure out how fast i need to drive to make up for it

By cupholder section do you mean the whole console, or is the cupholders from a 98 able to fit in the ashtray area. I am looking at a whole console from a 01 on ebay, but it looks like a different shade of tan than the one in my 96 Cobra.

The interior tan in the '94-'98's is a saddle tan color and is fairly dark, whereas the tan in the '99-'04's is more of a beige and is lighter. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Sadly I have the ashtray one, which is the only one that is actually able to hold a drink. The other one is too shallow to hold anything?

not to hijack but are there any tricks to getting the console out...when I searched for console removal this is about all I got. I don't see any screws, and I won't to remove it and pad EVERYTHING to minimize creaking
