I hate how my center console is on my 2000 Convertible. Where the cup holders are, I cant shift if I have a drink in the holder closest to the shifter. What years did they change this around?
Also, keep in mind this is a convertible so I will need both the toggles for the top and the foglights. Or am I just screwed because mines a convertible?

Thanks,
Chris

Well, I found a pic and it looks like Im out of luck. I guess on the 01+ they moved the foglight switch below the radio.

Oh well.... guess Ill have to stick with my crappy cupholders

Yeah I'd say your out of luck. I have an 02 and the cup holder is an issue for me too. The traction control and fog light buttons are under the radio. All you can do is not use the front cup holder anymore

How about taking out the center console, plastic-welding a moulded cup holder "ala carte" you buy at autozone etc. to the back of it inbetween the rear seats, sand, paint? Even though your drink would be harder to get its out of your way...and you shouldn't be drinking and driving anyway

I have a console from an 02 gt with the e brake and radio bezel (ac vents and switches). The 3 switches are traction control, defroster, and foglights. You can put your top toggle switch where the coin holder is, lets face it that thing is useless.Let me know if you're interested.

No thanks, I appreciate the offer though. I didnt want to have to change my radio too. All that work to put my cup somewhere else doesnt seem like its worth it.

He'd have to put the convertible top switch in that spot as that's what it's there for. The coin holder is just Ford's way of blanking it out for the coupes.

OT: I actually use the coin holder. Comes in handy when i know i have a toll coming up. I put the coins there ahead of time

I think the early 94-98 cars have the cup holder fold out of the armrest instead of being integrated into the console. I can remember being in my friend's Cobra and having him flip the cup holder out.

I would think you would elbow it though during a shift.

Honestly, i think the 01-04 cup holders are perfect. I can drive with my coffee in the front holder and not be affected.

Thats one of the things I missed from having a hardtop

I dont really have a place to put change now, so I carry it in the house and put it in an old wine jug. Maybe once its full I can buy something for the Mustang

They don't fold out of the armrests on a 98

EDIT:
The area where the ashtray is tends to hold drinks way better than the other.
