A buddy of mine is planning on getting a new clutch put in his 1990 LX 5.0. He is wondering which clutch is better between the Centerforce 2 or the King Cobra. He is planning on leaving the 5.0 mostly stock. Only plans I know of are full exhaust, mild cam, and 3:73s. HP will be alittle under 300rwhp and 350ish rwtq.

In a year or 2 he plans on swaping in a 351 with basicaly the same mods and he wonders is the clutch will be able to match up with the 351 along with the tranny.

Full exhaust and a mild cam won't get him to those numbers.

I'd go with the King Cobra.

I'm on my second King Cobra and it grabs and holds very tight. I put about 50,000 brutal miles on the first one and it still had lots of disk left.

Centerforce II is 60% better than stock. King Cobra is around 40% I believe. I have the Centerforce II in my stang and I like it a lot. The pedal feels like the stock clutch did.

How does it grab? Will the clutch slip before it tears your rear rend and tranny apart?

It grabs pretty fast on mine....but that's because my clutch isn't adjusted properly, it's almost on the floor.
